They expect us to watch this?

Instead of womens figure skating who is going to watch Dancing The Cows? er.. um I mean Stars... kinda like Skating with the stars the title should have "stars" replaced by "has beens/and never was minor celebrities you've never seen before and will(hopefully)never see again" except that title while accurate is a little to wordy. If I was alone in the house or we had more than one television the Dancing/Skating shows would never be looked at a second time by me, as it is my only choice outside of starting a war is to absent myself from the viewing area(even though the olympics are on) and not worry about it too much. Life is too short to let something as minor as figure skating become a big deal, eh?

Has anyone else had enough of CAIR's moaning and whining?

To listen to those idiots you'd think the muslims were the victims! They can't seem to shut up about the poor arab-americans and Islamics and how they're being mistreated in the U.S. even if they have to make up the statistics. If you doubt the sincerity of the Council on Arab-Islamic Relations all you need to know is their roots to have sure knowledge of where their loyalty lies.
CAIR is nothing more than a spin-off from the IAF or the Islamic Association For Palestine which was a front organization for our old friend HAMAS. Now it is no longer a surprise why so many members and even or maybe especially officers of CAIR are being arrested and convicted on terrorism related charges. I should think that not only this country, but the civilized world has had enough of those idiots.

Sharks in the Olympics

Canada won 4 medals yesterday to tie the U.S. and Norway for third place in overall medal count, but to the surprise of most of us lost out in the one place that really counts. Canada's mens hockey team will not only not get a chance to defend their Gold medal they have shocked the world by getting knocked out of a chance to play for any medal at all! And in that loss to Russia the Russian team was backstopped brilliany by San Jose Sharks starting Goalkeeper Evgeny Nabokov who shutout the Canadians who had San Jose Centre Joe Thornton playing for them. Thornton is leading the NHL in assissts right now, his team sure could have used an assisst of some kind yesterday. They didn't really play bad but they sure didn't play like a defending champion. Course are four teams in the mens ice hockey portion of the olympics this year that are essentially NHL all-star teams. Canada, Russia, the United States and the Czech Republic. And Slovakia isn't far behind they have half an all-star team and a lot of other quality players with NHL calibre on their team. Then there is Latvia the team that upended the U.S. early on with only two NHL players? NIk Andropov I recognized right off as playing for the Maple Leafs. Even though not on the first line he still had enough to beat the Yanks, eh?

Morales execution delayed again!!!!!!!

The execution of that heartleass creep MIchael Morales has been delayed because a judge ordered they find not one but TWO physicians to attend the execution in order to assure he was totally unconsious and had no chance to feel the slightest amount of pain from his punshment. Well now they can't find a physician willing to stand duty at an execution. They all say, and with the official backing of the A.M.A. the it violates their "ethics" to participate in the killing of another human, after all the "hypocritic" oath says first of all do no harm. This is from the profession that has given us Partial Birth Abortion. They won't stand guard at an execution of a monster to make sure he feels no pain but they have no ethical problem with sticking a fork in the concious head of a living baby that is seconds away from bein born as a healthy full term human being. They will have nothing do to with the execution of murders yet many of them have no problem with taking part in performing the act themselves as long the they have the blessing of Planned Parenthood, NARAL and some other Communist front organizations, of which I suspect the A.M.A. of being one.
U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel who made this asinine ruling had better be in line for recall soon, along with the half-wit who was the original judge for Morales and has now said he is no longer in favor of his execution and will not sign another execution order.

What's happening in the curling world?

It's hard to believe, but both the men's and women's Canadian curling teams were defeated. Canada the worlds Curling superpower is home to 94% of the the worlds curlers and I'm sure expected this even less than I did. Great Britain's team would be the next closes to a favourite, they are Scots and that is where the sport was invented. Italy, home to only 150 curlers compared to well over a million in Canada and has a team in the event only because they are the host nation built up an early lead and held on through an extra end to take a 7-6 victory. The women lost to Japan more convincingly at 5-2, but not as shocking as skip Ayumi Onodera and third Yumie Hayashi have led their team to some excellent finishes in the world championships over the last several years. Quite often they have come within a rock or two of the championship finishing 2d a couple of times and in the top half most of the time. In fact Japan did win last years Pacific Curling Championship so a good run here should come as no great surprise.

The deaths continue in Nigeria

The killing in Nigeria enters its fourth day now churches have been burned, some with christians in them. The official death toll is 35, rather the Nigerian government Confirms 35 deaths nationwide despite the Christian Association verification of 50 fatalities in the town of Maiduguri alone. Mondays death count reached 13 after an altercation between a student and a teacher over the confiscation of a Koran in class led the the rumer that it was desecrated. This of course was a call for member of the "religion of peace" to grab their machetes and head for the streets and go on a wild rampage.
You would think this would more newsworthy than whether or not some of the MSM reporters felt snubbed by the Vice President after a hunting accident that under Texas (or probably anywhere else)state law did not even have to be reported unless he felt like it!
The only story that existed here in the first place is that some reporters got their feelings hurt. BFD!! If they hadn't been demonizing Mr. Cheney during his tenure and given him no reason to trust them in the first place he might have gone to them instead of the heading to FOX News where he new he would get at least fair treatment. I watched the interview and Mr. Cheney certainley didn't get preferential treatment, he got asked all the hard questions the other guys wanted to ask, they just screwed theirselves out of the chance by being shills for the opposition for too long.

Canadian Women took the Gold

Without the U.S. to compete against Canada had no problem taking the Gold medal whipping Sweden 4-1 today. The Silver is an unexpected and unprecedented finish for the Swedes who were almost disbanded until they managed a Bronze in Salt Lake 4 years ago. That should give heart to the Swiss who also beat the Americans and the Finns who almost did a couple of times, twice taking 3-1 leads into the end of the 2d period before falling to 3d period U.S. rallys. Last December in Hartford Connecticut it was only 5-3 and in Turin during the preliminaries again leading 3-1 after 2 periods the Finns lost control of the game and the American women roared back to a 7-3 victory. But then the fell to 1-2-1 overall record in the medal round including that devastating shootout loss to the Swedes that put them in the consolation game with Finland instead of the Gold Medal game with Canada. Instead we'll have to hope the men's curling team can carry the load if we hope to get a golden team medal in Turin. The women are already out of curling, U.S. that is and the Canadian women are uncharactaristically struggling. Why isn't Jennifer Jones here? She was devastating at the Scott Tournament of Hearts so I had expected to see her skip the team or at least be on it. Why not send the best? The Canadian women have been having trouble on ice from the get go.

U.S.Women's Olympic Hockey at least got a Bronze Medal

Today the Defending World Champion U.S. womens hockey team beat Finland 4-0 behind Katie Kings' hat trick and Chanda Gunns' shutout goaltending to gain the Bronze medal in the Turin Olympics(non of this PC Italian language b.s. for me). Despite having increased the talent level on the team over recent years the U.S. Womens Hockey program has regressed from a Gold medal the 1998 olympics in Nagano, Japn to a Silver in 2002 at Salt Lake City, U.S.A. and finally managed a Bronze in the 2006 Turin, Italy olympics just this morning. With Julie Chu, Jenny Potter, Krissie Wendell, Natalie Darwitz, Angela Ruggiero, Katie King and all these talented young women most of whom could play in the AHL (some have played games with pro hockey teams) there really is no excuse for anything other than Gold. When you get right down to it there is no reason even the Canadian team should be able to beat the U.S. women. So what is the problem? We'll have to take a look at why an inferior Finnish team has twice in one year been able to take commanding 3-1 leads in the second periods before losing 5-3 at UNH at the end of last year and 7-3 in the preliminaries. This must have something to do with the coaching, but they have had the same coach for the last eleven years, it might just be time to finally make a change because something is no longer working. They hit the top of the sport eight years ago and have begun a gradual slide backwards since then. It was nice to win the world championship over Canada in 2005, but that takes a huge backseat to the Olympics. They are first and foremost in importance for amateur sports. Until they can mantain success in the Olympics everything else is secondary. Nice but secondary.

Mainstream Media Obsessess over the Vice President

While the MSM can't get past Dick Cheney not worrying over their feelings life goes on, as does news. Would'nt know it if you got your new from the MSM outlets however. While they are commiserating with each other and constantly whining about why they are not important enough to be first in Dick Cheney's thoughts the United States is considering selling an important part of 6 of its ports to a company owned by Dubai one of the seven Arab Emirates. While ostensibly our ally in the War on Terror the government of Dubai is wholly Muslim and don't expect anything other than hardline muslimism from them when push comes to shove.
Also not making the newswaves is the bounty places on the heads of the Danish cartoonists, not unless you read blogs that is. The Danish government has had to place the head of one of the more radical Islam schools under house arrest after he placed the bounty. His Muslim school offered to pay $25,000 and a new car to anyone who assassinated the cartoonist(he is evidently unaware that there is more than one cartoonist) and has a jeweler offering to pay an additional $1,000,000(One MIllion dollar) bounty for killing the cartoonist who has"insulted" Islam. If the Koran prohibits artwork of Muhammad(SUHN) now why didn't it prohibit artwork in the past when the Islams where creating things instead of destroying them? Back in the so-called golden age of Islam Muslims drew and painted beautiful artwork and among the most beautiful and admired of those works were images of Muhammed(SUHN) himself. Why don't they now discover in the Koran a prohibition against the bathtub or indoor plumbing that would go a long way towards making excuses for the living conditions they force on most of their believers!

Of course Dick Cheney used Fox!

How could Brit Humes interview with Vice President Cheney be considered taking it easy? Not unless you watched a different one than I did. It also appears that Mr. Cheney will see he friend in his dreams for the rest of his life. He wasn't trying to take it easy on himself by going on the most watched channel on television for this interview either. The biggest complainer/whiners over this, I guess they think they "deserve" for some reason a chance to be a part of the kill are Jack Cafferty, Wolf Blitzer and Keith Olbermann all long time friends of the administration. If the Vice-President were really trying to be secretive he would do his interview on either the Keith Olbermann or Chriss Mathews show! You have to reasearch old TV guides to find out the programs even exist, for crying out loud.
It was natural to go on Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, an CNBC combined have a viewership about half that of FoxNews. Even less if you throw in CNN headline!

Finally a chance to watch Curling and hockey

Finally a chance to watch my to favourite sports in the same day. Hockey and curling! Neither are televised often enough, especially in the United States and curling is almost never carried on TV in the U.S. I was able to watch the Scott's Tournament of Hearts but the Brier is never carried down here, even on cable. The olympics are are about the only time when curling is carried fully. That goes double for women's hockey and it shouldn't, the ladies game is every bit as exciting as the mens and has more finesse. I expect our women to show their skill to the world in a big way.
I can't count the times I have rewatched last years World Championship game between the United States and Canada. It was a scoreless tie after regulation and overtime before the American ladies won on the shootout. A fantastic game and a nailbiting finish between the two undisputed top teams in women's hockey in the world.
Watch out for the Finns and the Swedes they are getting better, the Finnish girls have scored on the Americans and had the lead 3-1 twice this season. losing 5-3 in Hartford Connecticut in an exciting game and going ahead 3-1 at the end of the 2d period just today before falling 7-3 to the American onslaught in the final frame.
If this all isn't confusing enought NBC is carrying the olympics on 5 different channels! The main NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, and USA(hadn't even known USA was an NBC network). I had noticed the last couple of years that after a change in ownership the quality of programming on the USA network had taken a definite nosedive, now I know why. Whenever NBC gets involved the only time I watch CNN or CNBC at all is for the olympics, as far as MSNBC goes I make an exception once in a while for Joe Scarborough, but I'm afraid he's all they have worth watching.

Rafic Hariri in Memoriam

Today is the one year anniversary of the assassination of Prime Minister Hariri of Lebanon. He was the greastest leader his country has known. He was responsible for the "April Understanding" ceasefire agreement with Israel, which kept civilians out of the Southern Lebanese conflict. The people of government and people of Lebanon received condolences from all nations up to and including Saudi Arabias Crown Prince Aziz and the Kuwaiti ruling family. His martyrdom at the hands of Syrian connected terrorists has been the catalyst needed to bring forth the birth of the "Cedar Revolution" that has brought Lebanon out of Syrian occupation.

Haven't been around for awhile

Anything I've thought of someone else has put into words better than I could have. Canadianna a has a grasp of Canadian politics second to none. She is generally spot on concerning matters north of the border. Michelle Malkin has the U.S. of A. covered pretty completely so I go there. I've kind of given up on the Free Trade of the Americas getting off the ground anytime soon(like the next 10 years!) I'm afraid the leftists have taken over almost every government in South America. Bolivia, and Urugauay joined the exreme left group and that is too sad as Uruguay had been the closest friend the U.S. had in South America before the last election. The Peronists, of course, still are the ruling party in Argentina but it is hard to decipher just where President Nestor Kírchner stands, except I do believe he is trying to make sure he makes it clear he is not going to stand to clear to the United States. He has already made at least minimal overtures to the Hamas party after their win in Palestine. That is not the sign of a conservative party.
I'm still wondering what has happened to the Toronto Maple Leafs. It seems to me they have all the elements of an excellent team. They have one of the best goaltenders around, they have fine blueliners and excellent offensive lines. Just don't quite seem to be able to win enough games to get any higher than third place. At the moment they are fourth and have fallen below the Habs in the standings for the second time this season. As long as they were ahead of Montreal and at least headed for the playoff I was kind of satisfied, even with that losing streak earlier in the year.
