Poor old fat Teddy went mental in the senate.

Ted Kennedy yelling and whining at the top of his lungs when cloture passed today. His most choice quote was about how the founding fathers had failed when they wrote slavery into the constitution. The rest was as forgettable. But if there was anyone left not old enough to remember when he killed Mary Jo Kopechne at Chappaquidick and tried to get his cousin to take the rap for him, this is just another example of the ole reprobates overwhelming courage underfire.
Anytime things don't go his way he screams, whines and cries about how unfair life is. In other words a real leftie.

Thinking about the next president of the U.S.

With the Tories in power it is time to think about the next President of the United States. In my opinion there is only one person with the personality and the capability to do a successful job. I think we are ready for a female President and Condoleeza Rice has been my ideal for some time. She has been making the necessary contacts both nationaly and internationaly over the last several years. Ms. Rice is popular worldwide and in her own country, and is I think not only the best qualified conservative, republican woman in the U.S. but is also the most qualified and able person in the whole of the country at this time.

Two Canadian Items I'm having trouble understanding

Item 1. Quebec

The Clarity Act of 2000 seems to be virtually indicipherable, to me at least. I've tried wading through quite a bit of the thing and it is hard to understand. I still am not sure whether or not Quebec has the same standing as the rest of Canada under the Constitution. It doesn't seem as if they even want to be considered as an equal member of the Dominion of Canada, at least not according to the '85 referendum. I'm also not sure whether or not they have or have not established a right to secession. I believe the Bloc Quebecois think they have the right to seceed if they can gain a majority in Lower Canada but their is still some question as to Upper Canadas agreement to the question. Or is that not correct? It seems unlikely that question will arise, especially with Conservatives being elected to parliament in Quebec!!

Item 2. The Leafs slump
NOW THE SECOND AND MOST IMPORTANT THING GOING WRONG IN CANADA - THE MAPLE LEAFS.

With a plethora of talent and an exellent goaltendter why can't the Leafs win a game? What the heck is wrong? There was some comfort in at least staying above the Habs in the standings, but after this last game (Toronto-3 Montreal-4)I'm afraid the 8th loss in a row -good grief- might just change that scenario. After the Ti-Cats record last season I was counting on the Leafs to pick me up, now. They haven't been that bad really, just not quite good enough to win lately. That slump has to finish sooner or later, well it's already to late for sooner so just finish already, eh?
We're pulling for you, and hope you get back on track and in the winning ways.
A Maple Leaf Forever!

Al Gore on Canada?!!!!

Not only do we not pay attention to him any more in the U.S., even when he was the Vice President Al Gore had a well deserved reputation as a blowhard and a total dunderhead. He is afterall the character who tried to take credit for "inventing" the internet! Impecable timing is another of his qualities, he grew himself a nice full beard and he was proudly wearing it at the time of the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
Considering Mr. Gores habit of being totally wrong, when he says to stay in the Kyoto accords your only safe course of action is to quit Kyoto as fast as humanly possible.
The main consideration is that no sane human would enter into the Kyoto accords in the first place unless he was a Communist or on the take for a fantastic sum of money. The second item covers the liberals(Canada)and Democrats(U.S.), the only two significant groups in North America with wings calling for approving the Kyoto joke.

Back to Al Gore, he knows next to nothing about the U.S.what makes him think he can tell the Canadians what to? Aha, he found out a Conservative got elected Prime Minister aand the Conservative Party took control of Parliament. Now he's worried and thinks they need and want his expert advice to save them from being ruined the way he failed to save his own country from being ruined by the eeevil cowboy George Bush.
Course we'd be learning Arabic now if Gore had actually been elected President back in 2000. To him that's beside the point, at least we would'nt have to put up the conservatives. The libs on both sides of the border seem to really think that even thought appeasal has failed miserably throughout history it will bring them success this try, it the only the program they seem to have. John Kohn Kerry's real name would have done the same thing, and he lost by a much larger margin than Gore, as I expect the next liberal challenger to Mr. Harper will do.

Stephen Harper Brings a breath of fresh air to Canada!

A welcome breath of fresh air to the Dominion of Canada comes by way of the election of Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party. Mr. Harper who has been compared to John Diefenbaker(first among equals)had a minority government seated in his first election in 1957. The Conservatives surged to the largest majority government in Canadian history in 1958 under John George Diefenbakers leadership and he was Prime Minister until the 1963 Lester Pearson debacle. I hope history (1957-58 not 62-3) will repeat itself. I've no doubt Canada has had all they can take from the Liberal party, unless some real changes are made they are headed for the scrap heap, just like the American Democrat party. The problem with both parties is that neither one has a clue, they both think they are still running things and always will be without making any changes in the way the operate.

Will the Canadians finally show some sense?

By the end of Monday the Conservative party should have a lead and unless something drastic has happened north of the border they will hand new Premier Stephen Harper and his party a clear majority in parliament. This should signal the end of the ugly anti-American dreck that has been rearing it's ugly head out from above the border. While it has been claimed to be only disgust with the present administration of President Bush and not dislike of the American people who are still our "friends and allies" these claims are likely to be only from the liberals and will not be heard again when they are no longer campaigning or electioneering.
The Conservative party, in common with conservative in the U.S. have had to put up with an out of touch government and media run by the liberal minority for years are finally catching up. We had Reagan , they had Diefenbaker but reforms either fell short or were forgotten and overturned when the liberals got back in power. Now its time for the Canadians to take back their own. The Liberals ran things for awhile and now Canada has Socialized medicine(meaning a 2-3year waiting list for operations unless you can afford to go to America), gun control ( a billion dollar boondoggle), and gay marriage (something else they didn't want or ask for).
And Paul Martin and the Liberal party's answer to this was? Blame it on George Bush and the evil gun toting American cowboys. Just like our liberals they can't and won't take responsibility for their own messes and mistakes. These guys both north and south of the border (didn't you learn about 54 40 or fight in US/Canadian history) never learn.

Evo Marales? Get Real!

How is he supposed to lead a nation? Aren't they in enough trouble already without handing the reins of government over to a cocaine farmer with an ex-Tupac for a vice-president. Morales and his MAS(Movement to Socialism) party have no plan for government only and anti-American anti-Free trade rant. The biggest threat to Bolivia under Evo is what happens to them if he manages to unite in a triumvirate with his heroes Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. How could Bolivia manage to prosper with such socialist partners, remember Morales is an ardent anti-capitalist. He is bent on overturning privitization programs and doing anything in his power to keep ALCA from succeding, this is to the detriment of not only Bolivia but of all America North and South.
